Frequently Asked Questions - Storage Tank Water Heaters

Both models have their advantages.

Storage models:

  • Are less expensive to install.
  • Do not require electricity.
  • Come in a large variety of sizes.

Generally, storage tank water heaters have a usable capacity of about 70%, meaning a typical 50-gallon model has available 35 gallons of truly hot water.  When there is high demand, like back to back showers in a large family, the hot water can be exhausted.  When it does, a family will need to wait for the water to get hot again.
