Plumbing Service Van Dealer recommendation: Jenkins Diesel

Once again, we've added a service van to our fleet of rolling warehouses.  Not just any van, but our rolling warehouse.  And, once again, we've purchased it from Jenkins Diesel.

Jenkins Diesel, and specifically sales representive Rick Wilson, have sold to us numerous plumbing service vans.  We fly our driver from Califonia to Missouri, and Rick picks him up at the airport.  The transaction is complete in just a few minutes and our driver receives the keys and gets on the road bound for Norcal.

Rick, and Jenkins Diesel, make it easy.  I trust them completely.

After the van arrives home, then we commence to make it a Mapleservice rolling warehouse.

Running toilet

Is your toilet running?  It's probably the fill valve.  See the photo.  The float on the fill valve moves up and dow,n controlling the water filling the tank.  At times, a worn fill valve's float will cease to rise to the point of "shutting off" the water.  The result is a toilet that constantly fills or "runs".  Fill valves can be tricky to replace, so you may want to call a plumber.

Underground Service Alert; Call before you dig

In our company it's common for one of our plumbers to request, "I'm going to need a USA" (Underground Service Alert).  And everyone here knows what that means, and knows the drill.  Translation, we've got an underground plumbing repair that requires a dig.  Usually by an excavator/operator.  The plumber has made an assessment that there are potential underground utiilites present or nearyby.  Here at Maples, we have an on-line USA account that we access.  Once accessed, and the address of the project is provided, a USA number is provided and we are advised to wait 48 hours minimum for receipt of a confirmation that the area has been marked.  The markings will show the presence of underground utilities.  This allows our plumber to make the repair while avoiding or damaging underground utilities.  Underground utilities include telephone, fiber optics, natural gas mains, cable TV, etc.  Striking or damaging one of these lines is both costly and dangerous.  "Call before you Dig" .  Simply dial 811.

Our Best Plumbing Story

Read this plumbing story and laugh.

"As a guitarist, I play many gigs.  Recently I was asked by a funeral director to play at a graveside service for a homeless man.  He had no family or friends, so the service was to be at a pauper's cemetery in the back country.  As I was not familiar with the backwoods, I got lost.

I finally arrived an hour late and saw the funeral guy had evidently gone and the hearse was nowhere in sight.  There were only the diggers and crew left and they were eating lunch.

I felt badly and apologized to the men for being late.  I went to the side of the grave and looked down and the vault lid was already in place.  I didn't know what else to do, so I started to play.

The workers put down their lunches and began to gather around.  I played out my heart and soul for this man with no family and friends.  I played like I've never played before for this homeless man.

And as I played 'Amazing Grace', the workers began to weep.  I wept, we all wept together.  When I finished I packed up my guitar and started toward my car.  Though my head hung low, my heart was full.

As I opened the door to my car, I heard one of the workers say, "I've never seen nothin' like that before and I've been putting in septic tanks for twenty years."

Apparently, I'm still lost...."
